Giving Thanks

Saturday. A day for finishing work, praising the Lord and giving thanks for the gift of life. Today is special inparticular, its the Canadian Thanksgiving weekend.

In Luke's Gospel the story of Jesus healing ten Lepers is told:

On the way to Jerusalem Jesus was going through the region between Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten lepers approached him. Keeping their distance, they called out, saying, "Jesus, Master, have mercy on us!" When Jesus saw them, he said to them, "Go and show yourselves to the priests." And as they went they were made clean. Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice. He prostrated himself at Jesus' feet and thanked him. And he was a Samaritan. Then Jesus asked, "Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they? Was none of them found to return and give his praise to God except this foreigner?" Then he said to him, "Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well."

Luke 17 11:19

Jesus Christ healed 10 men of leprosy and only one gave thanks.

Are you one of the nine that was healed and never gave thanks?
Or are you the one who saw that he was cleaned, and gave thanks and praise to God?

We have been blessed with so much, the gift of life alone is a gift far greater than what we deserve. We were created out of love, and in the Divine Image. Be thankful everyday, for you never know when God will call you to come be with him.

My Saturdays consist of catching up on work and spending precious time with my family. My tummy is telling me its getting close to turkey time! I am thankful to be able to spend thanksgiving in a warm home and surrounded by so many of my extended family members as well as all of my immediate family.

Happy Thanksgiving!
